The presence of subclinical and asymptomatic infections complicates efforts to monitor and control the spread of infectious diseases. Infected individuals who do not exhibit symptoms can unknowingly transmit the pathogen to others, making it harder to detect and contain outbreaks. Many common infections, such as the flu or certain gastrointestinal diseases, can present in an asymptomatic form, especially in healthy individuals or those with strong immune systems. While these infections may not cause immediate health concerns for the individual, they can contribute significantly to community transmission, highlighting the importance of widespread screening and preventative measures in managing public health.
