The geographic distribution of tick-borne diseases is influenced by the presence of suitable tick vectors and reservoir hosts. Lyme disease, for example, is prevalent in certain regions of North America, Europe, and Asia. Anaplasmosis and Rocky Mountain spotted fever have specific endemic areas in the United States. The distribution of tick-borne diseases is dynamic, influenced by environmental factors, climate change, and human activities. Emerging threats in tick-borne diseases include the identification of new pathogens and the expansion of existing ones into previously unaffected regions. The discovery of novel tick-borne viruses and bacteria underscores the importance of ongoing surveillance and research to understand the ecology and epidemiology of these diseases. Additionally, the potential impact of climate change on tick habitats and disease transmission patterns requires close attention. Research advances in tick-borne diseases encompass areas such as tick biology, host-pathogen interactions, and the development of improved diagnostic tools and vaccines. Understanding the complex relationships between ticks, pathogens, and hosts is crucial for developing targeted interventions. Efforts to identify new drug candidates, study tick salivary proteins, and investigate the host immune response aim to enhance prevention, diagnosis, and treatment strategies for tick-borne diseases.
