The AIDS virus, or Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), continues to pose a significant global health challenge with evolving trends and persistent hurdles. Transmission of HIV occurs primarily through unprotected sexual intercourse, sharing of contaminated needles, and from an infected mother to her child during childbirth or breastfeeding. Recent developments highlight the importance of understanding emerging trends in the epidemiology of HIV/AIDS, with a growing recognition of factors such as substance abuse, mental health, and socio-economic disparities influencing transmission rates. Efforts to combat the AIDS virus involve not only treatment but also prevention strategies. Despite progress in antiretroviral therapy (ART), challenges persist in ensuring universal access to treatment, especially in resource-limited regions. Ongoing research aims to improve treatment regimens, address drug resistance, and explore novel approaches such as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to reduce transmission rates. The social and economic impact of HIV/AIDS remains a critical concern. Stigma and discrimination associated with the virus continue to hinder prevention and treatment efforts. Global initiatives, such as awareness campaigns and community-based programs, play a pivotal role in reducing the stigma and promoting inclusivity.
