Dr. Muhammad G Morshed is a Clinical Microbiologist and Program Head of Zoonotic Diseases and Emerging Pathogens as well as Parasitology Laboratories of BCCDC Public Health Laboratory. He is also a Clinical Professor, Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia, Canada

Dr Morshed obtained his Ph.D degree from the Yamaguchi University School of Medicine, Japan in 1994. His laboratory is responsible for specialized serology testing, molecular testing and microbial fingerprinting, program evaluation and research. His research focuses on surveillance of zoonotic and emerging pathogens. Organisms of interest are Treponema pallidum, Borrelia burgdorferi, and Helicobacter pylori. Dr. Morshed published over 100 research articles and attended over 70 Scientific Conferences locally and internationally. Dr. Morshed is a registered member of the Canadian College of Microbiologists (CCM) and serving on the CCM Executive Board as Treasurer since 2012. He is also a board member (Councilor) of the Canadian Association for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.  Dr. Morshed received an “Excellence in Clinical Services” Award from UBC’s Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine in 2016, as well as being recognized nationally as a winner in the “RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards” in 2017.
