Title : New identification of pathogenic bacteria using aptamers, a review of literature
Abstract:
Rapid detection, identification and quantification of pathogenic microorganisms is crucial for the
protection of public health. Common diagnostic and monitoring methods includes microbiological
culture, biochemical tests, antibody-based methods (eg agglutination and enzyme-dependent
assays), physiological properties, macromolecule degradation, types of respiratory enzymes,
nutritional requirements, chemotaxonomics characteristics and inhibition by various substances.
Detection with antibodies is not accurate when there are minimal amounts of microorganisms. In
some cases, the detection is not precise due to the null specificity of some antibodies or in some
cases due to false positives. There is a continuing need for identification methods that are simple,
sensitive, and economical. Examples of this methods are the which are a class of molecules with the
potential to be used for medical interest. This group of synthetic nucleic acid molecules can be
generated in vitro and directed towards to any target molecule. The aptamers are oligonucleotides,
