Biography:

Born in Ferrara (Italy) 30/06/1954. Degree in Medicine at the University of Bologna (Italy) in 1979 – 80  Accademic Year. Qualification as a Medicine Doctor at the University of Bologna (Italy) in 1981. Specialization in Infectious Diseases at the University of Bologna (Italy) in 1986. Specialization in Tisiology and Respiratory Diseases at the University of Parma (Italy) in 1990. Specialization in Hygiene and Preventive Medicine, Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Ferrara (Italy) in 1994. House Resident at the Infectious Diseases Unit in the Teaching Hospital of Ferrara (Italy) between 1982 to 1985. Senior Consultant at the Tisiology and Respiratory Diseases Service in the Community Hospital of Ferrara (Italy) between 1986 to 1987. Senior Consultant at the Infectious Diseases Clinic in the Teaching Hospital / University of Parma (Italy) in 1988. Senior Consultant at the Infectious Diseases Unit in the Teaching Hospital / University of Ferrara (Italy) from 1989 to 2010. Assistant Professor of Infectious Diseases in the University  of Ferrara from 1996 to 2010. Head of Infectious Diseases Unit Teaching Hospital / University of Ferrara (Italy) from 2010 up to now. He acts as a infectious diseases consultant in several setting such as intensive care units, brain lesions rehabilitation department, neurosurgery, major abdominal surgery and orthopedics clinic. He is active in epidemiological and clinical studies on infectious risk in several nosocomial setting, including studies for treatment optimization of infectious diseases. His clinical and research interest focus on severe, healthcare acquired infections, in particular those caused by emerging multidrug resistant organisms. He has published 300 scientific paper and presented numerous communications in national and international congresses.
