Title : A case of Acute Respiratory failure in Myasthenia gravis triggered by COVID-19 infection
Abstract:
Corona virus disease is a severe acute respiratory infection caused by SARS- CoV -2 and has rapidly become a global pandemic. Patients with autoimmune disorders have been more prone to have severe complications after infected with COVID – 19. Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disorder of the neuromuscular junction and 15-20% of the patients will encounter myasthenia crisis during the course of the disease by various causes including viral infection. Immunosuppressive therapy, impaired immune responses and respiratory muscle weakness are some of the possible aetiologies that may increase the severity of outcome in Myasthenia gravis patients infected with COVID-19.
